Dear Savvy reader,

We’re very excited to have Troy Headrick, as Savvy's new blogger.

Troy is a writer, artist, and academician who currently teaches writing classes at The American University in Cairo. His stories, articles, personal essays, political and cultural commentaries, and poems have appeared in many publications (including this one), and he has shown his art internationally.

In 1993, he joined the Peace Corps and was sent overseas to teach at a small university in Tarnow, Poland. After completing a two-year stint as a Volunteer and then working on his PhD at Texas A & M University, he moved to the Middle East. Today, he lives in Egypt, but he has also spent time in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. Living as an expatriate has provided him with the opportunity to travel extensively. He is originally from Texas.

Troy has taught women's studies classes and currently teaches a freshman course that has "gender" as its main theme. He has also taught courses on happiness, creativity, heroes (and heroines), philosophy, American culture, critical thinking, and literature.

Troy is currently writing a weekly blog that is fun, interactive, and thought-provoking.
